Honda CR-Z by Max Racing

The Honda CR-Zwas developed predominantly to display fuel efficiency, but at the same time, it can be used as proof that a hybrid vehicle can be just as sporty as any other model on the market. Case in point is the tuning project by Honda tuner, Max Racing, revealed during the recent 2010 Super Lap Battle held in the Tsukuba circuit.

Their package starts off with suspension upgrades, bigger brakes, and a lighter set of wheels. There is also a new set of multi-spoke lightweight alloy rims painted in a black finish with a blue lip and wrapped in high-performance tires. And, since no race car is complete without it, some racing livery has been added to fully prepare the CR-Z for track use.

At the Super Lap Battle, Max Racing’s Honda CR-Z was able to run at an average of 1?12? 240 at 138.8km/h with its fastest lap being 1?11? 933 at 139.5km/h. Not bad at all considering this is a hybrid model, right?

This was just the first CR-Z prepared for the track use, as 2011 will bring a few more models to the racing scene.

Who needs a Grand Prix?

Formula 1 races are generally sold on the basis that they will boost the economy of a region. They are expensive, but they normally generate enough business to make the locals happy with the results. Iceland, however, has stumbled on a new way to attract tourists, which costs very little in comparison to F1. The [...]

DTM: Paffett predicts Audi fightback in ?11

Paffett predicts Audi fightback in '11 By Glenn Freeman Sunday, December 26th 2010, 11:36 GMT Former DTM champion Gary Paffett expects Audi to strike back in 2011 after Mercedes dominated the series this year. Audi only scored two victories compared to the nine of Mercedes this year, as the Ingolstadt manufacturer struggled to get a handle on the new tyre compound introduced by Dunlop. Paffett was part of a three-way Mercedes title scrap with Paul di Resta and Bruno Spengler this year, but the Briton does not expect his HWA team to have such an easy time of things next year Related posts:

Ferrari's surprise in Geneva is the 612 Scaglietti successor

Before Christmas, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo announced that Ferrari would be headed to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show with something "different". Our early assumptions lead us to believe that he was talking about the next 612, but now we can confirm that this new model is in fact the successor for the current 612 Scaglietti. Bummer, we were kind of hoping to get a little something extra at Geneva.

Codenamed F151, the next 612 Scaglietti will combine front design elements from the 458 Italia with a rear end similar to the 599 Fiorano. The powertrain will be borrowed from the 599 HY-KERS that was revealed in Geneva this year. This hybrid system combines a V12 550 HP engine with an electric motor of 100 HP. This new system will help reduce fuel consumptions by 35% and will also help the new 612 Scaglietti to not exceed CO2 emissions of more than 280 grams of per kilometer.

Apparently, Ferrari took all of the reactions they received back in 2004 when they first unveiled the 612 and used them to make the decisions that would mold and shape the successor. The final product of these decisions will be waiting for all of us when the show doors open in March 2011.
