In desperate need for a clear coat flub-up

Lets start with the model, 1957 Black Widow. I painted the car's rear with Spray paint from the can America' Choice by Rust-Oleum Antique White.  I added pin stripes from Microscale Decals. The front half  was done with Testors One Coat  Root Beer Lacquer. This was painted atleast two weeks ago. I spray painted the clear coat Wednesday. I used Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss Acrylic. When the clear hit the white paint it immediatly started to crackle. When it dried the Rootbeer's shiny finish turned real flat. Can any one tell me my the white crackled, and the best way to fix it? And could someone tell why it turned flat??? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated , thank you Steve
