Roding Roadster 23
|
Before you get too excited about these spy shots, we have to tell you that, despite similarities, you are not looking at a production version of the Audi e-tron Spyder Concept. This is, in fact, the Roding - a two seat mid-engine sports car developed by a small German car manufacturer called Roding Automobile.
A Roding prototype was caught testing for the first time last year, but it was one of the ugliest cars ever. Roding seemed to have understood that and knew that if they wanted to "set new standards in the roadster segment" they would have to change things significantly. And they did!
The new Roading Roadster will feature a carbon fiber chassis and a powerful turbo charged engine. Maximum performance and driving dynamics are achieved through consequent lightweight construction, and a state of the art six cylinder turbocharged engine with an impressive output of 300 HP and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission which sends the power to the rear wheels.
The official presentation will be held at the end of this year, with first delivery set to begin in 2012. There will be only 23 units built.
UPDATE 02/22/2012: After getting put through some extensive testing a year ago, the Roding Roadster will finally be making its world debut next month at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Can’t wait? Here’s a new rendering to hold you over!
